The Orchestre d'Harmonie de Joué-lès-Tours is a very well known Concert Band in France.
It was formed in 1882 and it now provides an opportunity for pupils and adults of the Conservatoire à rayonnement communal of Joué-lès-Tours to play in a Wind Band at a very high standard.
The Band is currently composed of 70 musicians from varied backgrounds and professions, some of them are Music teachers in different Music Schools in the Centre Region. Some members also play within professional French military bands.
The Orchestre d'Harmonie de Joué-lès-Tours received a 1st Prize in the category Vivace at the EOLIA International Wind Orchestra Competition held in Strasbourg (France) in May 2008.
Over the years, the band has performed many indoor and outdoor concerts. It has accompagnied famous international soloists. They play a varied repertoire of music including classical pieces, jazz and movie soundtracks.
Fondé en 1882, l’Orchestre d’Harmonie de Joué-lès-Tours compte aujourd’hui un effectif de 70 musiciens dont la plupart sont issus du Conservatoire à rayonnement communal de Joué Lès Tours.
Présent au Concours International de Strasbourg en mai 2008, l'Orchestre d'Harmonie remporte un 1° Prix avec félicitations du jury et mention pour le chef d'orchestre - 1° nommé, dans la catégorie « Vivace ».
L'Orchestre a l’occasion de se produire aux côtés d’éminents solistes internationaux et propose un programme varié en s’associant régulièrement à des ensembles musicaux aux styles différents (choeurs, jazz, musiques des Balkans).
